Postdoctoral Researcher at Texas A&M University

Apr 26, 2022

The Laboratory of Space Systems and Optomechanics (LASSO) at Texas A&M University is seeking a candidates for postdoctoral researcher positions with a strong graduate research and/or prior postdoctoral experience in displacement laser interferometry at low frequencies, optomechanical inertial sensing, including micro-optical systems, cavity optomechanics and quantum optics. The candidate will work in the LASSO research group.
The positions are available now and will remain open until they are filled.

Specific desired expertise includes, but is not limited to, laser interferometry, monolithic optomechanical sensors, integrated photonics, atom interferometric and quantum measurement systems. Individuals with interdisciplinary research background are especially encouraged to apply.

The candidate will work closely with a team of experimentalists and have the opportunity to advise Ph.D. and M.S. students, launching new programs on optomechanical and quantum inertial sensing for applications in gravitational sensing, geodesy, navigation, space and quantum technologies.

The candidate will engage in experimental research related to advanced laser interferometers, novel optomechanical and quantum technologies, and space systems with applications in gravitational sensing and navigation, with minimal supervision.
The candidate will be expected to participate in scholarly discussions with colleagues on new ideas and concepts, work closely with experimentalists and interdisciplinary teams, author journal papers and conference articles, participate in government review meetings, and give talks and seminars on technical topics.
The candidate will be expected to supervise undergraduate/MS/PhD students.
The candidate will have the opportunity, if they wish, to participate in writing grant proposals for new projects. Other duties as required.
