Black Holes III will gather experts working on the many complementary aspects of classical and quantum black holes: their exterior geometry, their internal structure, their perturbations and stability, their formation and mergers, their observational signatures, and their possible extensions beyond General Relativity.
The meeting will take place at Sapienza University of Rome from 23 to 27 August 2027.
The gravitational-physics landscape has evolved rapidly, mostly driven by the possibility of studying strong-field regions and, in particular, black holes.
Black holes are among the most remarkable macroscopic objects in the universe. According to General Relativity, their exterior is extremely simple, while their interior points toward the limits of the classical theory. Understanding black holes therefore requires a broad effort, connecting gravitational theory, astrophysics, numerical relativity, quantum gravity, high-energy physics, and data analysis.
